We offer λ/2 and λ/4 levels of retardation over a range of anti-reflection coated wavelengths. The λ/2 waveplate is used to shift the direction of polarisation by 180°, whereas the λ/4 will convert between linearly polarised and circularly polarised light. The retardation of zero order waveplates is less sensitive to temperature and wavelength fluctuations than an equivalent low order waveplate. For this reason they are more suited to applications for which temperature and wavelength sensitivity is important. Our waveplates are all available in inch (25.4mm) and half-inch (12.7mm) diameters.
